About

Cambridgeshire Climate Emergency (CCE) was originally set up by Stefan Haselwimmer, a trained community organiser. During 2015, Stefan set up Cambridge Refugee Resettlement Campaign to coordinate the Cambridgeshire community response to the Syrian refugee crisis. Inspired by the way trained, co-ordinated community members could solve a problem more quickly and effectively than government programmes, he gathered a small team to work out how a similar approach could be used to confront our climate and nature emergency.

Chris Pointon took over the leadership of CCE when Stefan left the area in 2021. The vision of trained, resourced and networked grass-roots action continues to be central to CCE’s approach. It is now further boosted by CCE’s involvement with The Great Collaboration, a national initiative that shares the same principles.

CCE is unincorporated and entirely volunteer-run. To get in contact, send a message to info at camemergency dot org

The “Climate Emergency Control Room” concept was developed as a result of conversations with CERN scientist Daniel Dobos who was involved in the CERN “Atlas Control Room”.
